Salthill has always been considered one of the Galway's foremost attractions . There are an enormous number of recreational activities available at the west coast top seaside resort. Salthill has recently improved its facilities with the construction of new hotels, bars and casinos.

Live music can be heard in many pubs including the atmospheric O' Connors on the main street and the lively Kitty O'Shea's close to the seaside.
During the summer months, many festivals are held which add to the ambiance of the resort. These festivals include the world famous "Oyster Festival" and "The Guinness Festival".

The strand itself includes a lengthy promenade for recreational strolling, which allows the best view of the Atlantic ocean . Towards the end of the promenade, at Blackrock there is a high diving board for those brave in spirit.
Salthill is considered the gateway to Connemara . It still maintains a friendly intimate atmosphere which explains the enormous number of return visitors.
